As the McDonald’s All-American Game approaches on March 28th, a name that should be on everyone’s list is R.J. Barrett. Selected for the Boys’ East Team, the six-foot-seven wing is not only the nation’s top recruit but one of the more exciting and versatile scorers in the class of 2018. His 6’10” wingspan also makes him disruptive on defense.
One of his most impressive attributes is his scoring instinct, that coupled with his explosiveness has drawn him comparisons to the likes of Russell Westbrook.
NBA scouts are already buzzing that the Montverde Academy product is likely to be the top pick in the 2019 draft; however, Barrett must first navigate the college game as part of Duke University’s top recruiting class which also includes fellow All-Americans Zion Williamson (the no. 2 recruit in the nation according to ESPN.com) and Cameron Reddish (the no. 3 recruit in the nation according to ESPN.com). Only time will tell how the all-around skills of Barrett will blossom under the tutelage of coaching legend Mike Krzyzewski but one thing is for sure, all eyes will be upon him.
