With Steph Curry comparisons, Trae Young might be the piece for the Atlanta Hawks to build a Warriors-like dynasty. Ever since the Warriors rose up through the ranks of the NBA standings, almost every team has been trying to keep up or rebuild in order to stay competitive and the Atlanta Hawks have been no different. They have looking to build through the Draft since they haven’t been able to pick up a franchise talent in free agency even after their magical 60-win season just three seasons ago. With the help of GM Travis Schlenk (former Warriors assistant GM), they are poised to make a run at it with picking up Trae Young. Trae has drawn comparisons to Steph Curry, as he stormed on the scene at the University of Oklahoma last season as an undersized point guard with unlimited range; and with the Hawks picking at #3 and Young’s draft stock rising, the two might be a perfect pairing. There is a little uncertainty at the point guard spot already as starting point guard Dennis Schroeder has expressed his doubts about the team’s future. The team doesn’t want to be caught in no man’s land and this pick could be a fresh start for the Hawks moving forward. They hold four picks this year, three of them in the first round (#3, #19, and #30), which means they hold the keys going forward into the Draft. Anything is bound to happen with the way things are shaping up so far but if Atlanta sticks to their guns, the franchise could be in great shape moving forward.
